Christmas Quizzes
12-18-2003 E 3:45 p.m.
Do you know, we only have seven days, eight hours, nine minutes and three seconds till Christmas?...plus or minus. Poor Heather though, it's still not Christmas for her...not until her final, project and paper are done. And I can't say I blame her. I remember two years ago when I started back to school, this time in I.F., I was so caught up in the whirl of last minute assignments, finals and extra credit that needed to be turned in. The house had been "Christmasized" almost right after Thanksgiving, but it wasn't until after the letdown and release from all obligations to that semester that I experienced the realization that, "hey, it's now Christmas!" It just didn't feel like Christmas was around the corner, when in reality it was only weeks away. So I heartily empathize with Heather.

Even though I'm ready, it's kinda amazing to think Christmas is only a week away! Though the attitude around here is, well...the tingling sensation describes the feeling, if not zee attitude. There's still Christmas shoppin' to do, but people feel yucky with colds and they have very lil will or energy to see it finished. Especially Mom. She's forced herself to go out with Kami and Noah, Kami's boyfriend. She's determined to "shop till they drop" as the sayin' goes.

I came across two holiday quizzes (and an I.Q. test that says I've a 120 I.Q. and that I'm an Insightful Linguist). The holiday quizzes are quite fun and surprising, yet not surprising.

One was What is your holiday theme song? Since I posted one of my favorite Christmas songs earlier, I was curious to see what Emode, or Tickle as it's now called, had to say.

Holiday parties and gift giving are great, but you honor the true meaning of Christmas, too. Tradition is probably important to you--whether you find it in religion or in your family's annual rites of passage. In fact, it's your spiritual center that might direct your social calendar--making sure you never miss the annual pageant, make the time to spend with loved ones, or just set some moments aside to enjoy that feel-good holiday cheer. These are the sorts of things that take precedence for you during the season.

Sure you like a good gift and love the feeling of giving someone the perfect present. But let everyone else work up a sweat at the shopping malls. You're working on quality time with those who mean the most. And if you keep at it, that lesson will probably rub off on those around you. So if loved ones need a gentle reminder of what the holidays are really about, why not share your theme song with them? Whether you're tied to its message or not, its gentle, powerful, "O holy night, the stars are brightly shining..." is sure to get them where it counts.

How interesting is that? My past several entries have been focused on feeling the true spirit of Christmas this year and Tickle says that it's the most important to me during this season... And come to think of it, I do love O Holy Night. The more I hear it and the more I become familiar with the words, it becomes an bigger favorite.

The other quiz I took is Which Christmas character are you? I'm into all the old cartoon and claymation Christmas specials that have been shown most every year. Thus once again, my curiosity rose to the fore. I'm Rudolph...

Ok, so maybe you won't go down in history for having a glowing nose or being heckled by the reindeer gang, but like your Christmas counterpart, you're a good friend who'll stick with people through thick and thin.

You're a true original who's not likely to jump on the bandwagon "just because." And you're strong enough to know that you don't have to go along with the herd, especially if the herd isn't going where you want to. It's this independent streak coupled with your kind heart that makes you such a standout. You're true to yourself and that will keep drawing people to you. So keep showcasing your unique skills and lighting the way! We could all use a little illumination like yours!

Hmmm, I can kinda relate to him in another way as well. I sometimes feel like a misfit or the odd woman out myself because of my disability. I want to fit in, yet I can't. Because of my reliance on a wheelchair, I must do things a bit different and I can't go places others can.
