I Will Be...
08-07-2004 E 2:00 p.m.
P-O-Y chose to do another quote this week, this time by one of my personal faves, Elvis Presley. Ok, so it's in a song, but still! it came by way of his bone-melting voice. "The world's a stage and each must play a part."

What part do you play in this world?

My first reaction? That's from Shakespeare!

My second reaction? I'm an underling, an insignificant speck in a great big universe that does not revolve around me.

I will never be a great person, annotated in the footnotes of history, for any reason. I will never be a leader, for I have no leadership skills nor the desire to be one. I will never be a singer or songwriter, for I lack the ability to carry a tune worth a darn. And poetry is definitely not my strong suit when it comes to writing. I will never be a beauty queen or a supermodel. I will never be a dancer or performer, for I get stage fright. I will never be anything glamourous or wow!

Instead, I will be me. I will be my own lil star in a quiet corner of the dark universe, shining as brightly as I can amongst other brighter stars in the vast black emptiness until my power, my passion can burn no more and my light winks softly out. (Sorry, guess I'm still stuck on the light thing. *sheepish look*) I will be a good person, a loyal friend, a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin and granddaughter. I will be a writer, a storyteller. And I will be human.
