If I were an angel, this is what I'd do:
I'd heal the sick and ease the disconsolate's pain, if it was God's will, for sometimes we have trials we must go through. And only God knows the wisdom of why.
I'd watch over the children entrusted in my care, make sure little Bobby or Susie never strayed far from safety. "Watch out," I'd whisper if they started for an intriguing yet dangerous place. "You shouldn't go any farther. Serious danger lies that way. Perhaps you could play in the garden..."
I'd comfort the weary and forlorn. Perform any acts of service I may to ease their burdens. I'd listen when they'd need someone to share their sorrows or concerns. I'd be there as a friend when they'd need one, to share laughter and joy, soberness or fear. I'd do what I can.
I'd do what the Lord bid me on behalf of His children.
But wait. It doesn't take a halo and wings and white robes to be an angel on the Lord's bidding. I can do this without a halo or wings or flowing white robes. I may be human, but none of these things are humanly impossible. We can all do them, in fact. Just step outside our narrow worlds and see what there is to do around us, see who is hungry, who needs aid, who needs shelter and clothes. See what service can be given, see what easing of any burden or sorrow can do. See what children need protecting and guidance.
