As you may or may not remember, last week's and this week's Thursday 13 is a two-parter. Last week I did things I liked, A-M. Because we only do 13 things I had to split the alphabet in half, so I figured this week I'd do the second half with things that frighten me or that I can't stand. 1) Needles... I HATE needles. They terrify me, so having my blood drawn every six months (the doctors need to keep monitoring my Depakote--seizure medicine--levels) is no picnic. I'm a wuss, I admit it; everytime I have to go in I request the "butterfly" needle. 2) Obesity... "O" was a hard one one to come with, but when I thought more on what bad things started with "O," this is what came to mind. It's a scary thing, obesity, and unfortunately it's quite prevalent in the U.S.
3) Peer Pressure... Unless you're super secure in yourself this is never an easy thing to withstand. I have felt it myself numerous times and on occasion have buckled under it. Like anybody else, instead of just being me, I was a follower. In the end, a lot of those times didn't bring much enjoyment to me. 4) Quakes... Earthquakes...muscle quakes, or spasms. The first one is terrifying; the second one is painful (ha! another "P" word), but both are no fun. 5) Religious fanatics... Hmmm, I probably could have used the word occult for "O" now that I think about it. Oh well. At least now it gives me something for "R." Moderation in all things is good. Being devout in your religion is good. Being fanatic to the extreme not so good. It baffles me, some of the occults people come up with. Like the one in Waco, Texas some years back. Some truly start them because they honestly believe what they want to teach others. Other occult leaders start them as scams to cheat gullible, innocent people. And another ratio of leaders start religious sects for power and control only. The latter two groups don't care about their followers who truly do believe what their leaders preach and have them do. 6) Snakes, scorpions... Take your pick. Both scare and repulse me. 7) Tar... Sometimes being in a wheelchair can get annoying. You can't help but drag remnants of whatever you drive over into the house. Bits of gravel, melting snow, the red sand or salt used to melt ice. Or streaks of still not completely dried new asphalt. This happened once or twice to me and I felt so bad when a streak was found on the carpet. 8) Urping... I know of no one who likes doing this. My dad will do almost anything to avoid doing this. 9) Varicose Veins... Those unsightly blue spidery veins no one likes. I'm afraid, for some reason, that I'll get them. 10) Wet Willies... I find these just plain gross, and they give me goose pimples. 11) X-rated anything... I'm not into pornography, so I just find anything with this rating unnecessary and a waste. 12) Yelling to someone two or three rooms away... I hate this. Unless you're hurt, trapped or otherwise in trouble, get off your lazy butts and go talk to the person! 13) Zeb... This is stretching it a bit. I couldn't think of a good word or thing, other than this old name. No offense to any who have it, it just sounds like it is a hick's name. |
