Seven Sayings For Spring!

May Day, or Beltane, was earlier this week and it looks and feels like Spring is here...at long last! Plus, I've had Spring Fever for nigh onto a month now, and boy, does it ever feel good to get out for brief jaunts every couple of days. *smiles* So I thought it fitting today's Saturday Sayings featured Gaia's reawakening.

1) "Now spring brings back balmy warmth."
~Gaius Valerius Catullus~

2) Spring, the sweet spring, is the year's pleasant
king;
    Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a
ring,
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing.
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
~Thomas Nashe, Summer's Last Will and Testament~

3) The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn:
God's in his heaven--
All's right with the world.
~Robert Browning, Pippa Passes~

4) Is it so small a thing
To have enjoyed the sun,
To have lived light in the spring,
To have loved, to have thought, to have done;
To have advanced true friends, and beat down
baffling foes?
~Matthew Arnold, Empedocles on Etna --Act II, Scene I~

5) For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.
~Algernon Charles Swinburne, Atalanta in Calydon~

6) "The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month."
~Henry Van Dyke, Fisherman's Luck~

7) "Come, gentle Spring! ethereal mildness, come."
~James Thomson, The Seasons: Spring~

"The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month."
~Henry Van Dyke, Fisherman's Luck~

This has truly seemed to be the case for this year. Especially since my Spring Fever started quite early. Earlier than usual. Maybe that's because I've been cooped up more this past winter than last year or the year before. And we've definitely had flip-flop weather--and I'm not talking about the type of shoe I see people wearing once the temperatures rise. In the same week we have had good weather (for a day or two) then it'd turn and we'd have two or three days of cold, dreary weather with snow or sleet or rain. Then it'd be nice again. *makes a face* We felt like telling Mother Nature to make up her mind. Most definitely, preferrably, on the warm, sunny side of the spectrum! But yes, I have definitely felt the truth of my chosen quote in this Spring already.

Links to other Saturday Sayings! I'd like to know who you are! But please, this is for participants of the meme only.

This is a very simple meme. I hope it will be fun for you who participate. All you need to do is choose a topic and find seven sayings or quotes on it and then choose one of your seven to elaborate on. Quite simple! =0} Above all, HAVE FUN!
