Saturday Sayings: Angels From On High
04-15-2006 E 2:44 p.m.
Feeling-- a wee bit chilled
Reading-- Winds of Fate by Mercedes Lackey
Listening to-- If I Could Turn Back Time -- Cher's Greatest Hits

I'm in a meme mood this week, I guess. I've done three already (on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) and I'm wanting to do one today. But the ones I found didn't strike a chord or looked all that interesting, so I'm trying to be somewhat creative, while hopping on the easy, do-it-yourself, new meme format bandwagon. I'm hoping this'll be fun, even if I'm the only one who does it.

Seven Sayings About Angels

As my current layout attests to, I'm on an angel kick, so I thought for my very first Saturday Sayings I'd share seven quotes I've either collected or found on these Heavenly Beings. Then, choosing one, I'll elaborate further, sharing my thoughts and feelings on it.

1) "We are each of us angels, with but only one wing and we can fly only by embracing each other."
~Luciano de Crescenzo~

2) "Friends are angels who lift us up when our wings have forgotten how to fly."

3) "When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts."

4) "Philosophers have argued for centuries about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, but materialists have always known it depends on whether they are jitterbugging or dancing cheek-to-cheek." ~Tom Robbins~

5) "The gaurdian angels of life sometimes fly so high as to be beyond our sight, but they are always looking down upon us." ~Jean Paul Richter~

6) "A babe in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men."
~Martin Fraquhar Tupper~

7) "Life is a tapestry: We are the warp; angels, the weft; God, the weaver. Only the Weaver sees the whole design."
~The Angels' Little Instruction Book, Eileen Elias Freeman~

"Philosophers have argued for centuries about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, but materialists have always known it depends on whether they are jitterbugging or dancing cheek-to-cheek."
~Tom Robbins~

I chose quote number four because when I first read it, I almost choked on my Wild Cherry Pepsi from startled laughter. It caught me off-guard, certainly by surprise. I could see, all too easily, a gaggle of angels in white robes with graceful wings sprouting from their backs, just having a grand ole time, either jitterbugging or dancing cheek-to-cheek with eyes closed and beatific smiles on their faces. *giggles* I love humor like this.

And really, we know, or should know that while Heavenly Father is a sober, just, merciful and a sometimes wrathful and jealous God, He also has a well-developed sense of humor. So--if He does and likes to have a bit a good clean fun as well...why wouldn't His angels? Stands to reason, don't you think? *quirks brow*

Links to other Saturday Sayings! I'd like to know who you are! But please, this is for participants of the meme only.

This is a very simple meme. I hope it will be fun for you who participate. All you need to do is choose a topic and find seven sayings or quotes on it and then choose one of your seven to elaborate on. Quite simple! =0} Above all, HAVE FUN!
