A Party Weekend
10-14-2002 E 3:40 p.m.
*cat stretch* Oh boy. My desk is so cluttered, I probably should get some discipline and clean it up a bit. But I so don't want to. **Um Heather, I got your pics of Jen and am going to make a wallpaper for you, so it may be a few days. I have that Pan article to finish.

I love October. Besides July (for obvious reasons) it's one of my favorite months. Fall's colors are their most vibrant and it's still nice outside with that distinctive crispness in the air. Plus, it's when Mom starts decorating zee house for the holidays.

Kami came home for the weekend and we celebrated her birthday last night as she won't be able to be here on her actual b-day next Sunday. It was so fun. Jen came into town and Shane came over from Boise. After the usual birthday dinner, presents, cake and ice cream, we played Pigs, the dice game. Later on Jen and I watched The Canterville Ghost, based on Oscar Wilde's short story. It's always been a fave of mine since I was 12 or so.

I donno why it didn't hit me before last night that I could possibly find the short story somewhere, buy it and read the original version. But as we talked about Oscar Wilde as the movie started it dawned on me that there were two or three remakes of the movie. I've seen them all, but the version I have is my favorite. Patrick Stewart from Star Trek: TNG is the ghost, Sir Simon. I wondered about the original version and suddenly had a hankering to know the original story. So I guess it's time to start saving moolah big time. There's several things I want. But they're a would-like-to-have, not a need-to-have.

There's the new computer that would be nice, there's two or three collector's dolls from foreign lands I would like to own--around $55 each--and the short story by Oscar Wilde. *light bulb goes off in head* I can check on The Mystical Unicorn Online Used Bookstore!! Usually the books are from $2.50 to $5. Way to brainstorm there, Shi. *happy smile*

But last night's fun and silliness was when we had cake and ice cream. After blowing out the candles, Jon put five in his mouth to suck off the frosting and to be goofy. Still playing 'round he relit one, or maybe all five candles and tried blowing them out. LOL Only one remained and he had to inhale. Not very smart, but he needed to breathe and blow it out! In the process though, he nearly singed his nose hair! *tries unsucessfully to hold back a grin* Mom tried to get him ta do it again for the camera, but understandably the boy was scared for his nose hair. *chuckles*

He gave us another big laugh when the cake was being cut. The cake had a Winnie the Pooh party scene on it. Kami decided to cut through Kanga instead of Pooh. "Good idea, then we won't be eating Pooh." he commented.

All of us around the table paused for a minute as the play on words sunk in. We burst out laughing, though the picture was less than appetizing. We couldn't help it though.
