Good Things Happening
04-05-2005 E 5:15 p.m.
Ooooooo boy. Lotsa things to talk about all the sudden--good things too. *pleased smile* But where to begin? Writing? The baby? The new addiction to poetry? The books Monica sent me? Philosophizing? Or the surprise I have in store for all who read this journal?

My mind is in such a whirl! I feel like I'm in the eye of a windstorm with my thoughts swirling at a high velocity around me, carried around and around by the forceful funnel winds. Thoughts are too fleeting to grasp as one is blown beyond my grip and another shoots nearby on the opposite side. That one too is gone before I have time to react and grab it before it's pushed around the funnel again.

Where yesterday was frustrating--it seemed as if nothing journal or email-wise was cooperating--today has been bright and sunny with flowers blooming (metaphorically).

  • We found out Jen is expecting a boy--Cannon Michael. Unusual name I know, but they wanted Mike's and my heritage evident in the name. We also found out Cannon is an Iraqi name. *amused smile* An Iraqi friend of Mikey's told him they should call the baby Achmed-Cannon! We're so thrilled! I'm gettin' another nephew, y'all!
  • The Blogger.com problem has resolved itself, thank goodness. I didn't need to start up a new account after all, just needed to be patient like I was. I found several of my requests from two days ago in my Inbox and several more in my Bulk Mail folder this morning! *rolls eyes* So I still have the same account, but a different password--I wrote it down this time. And Michael's email went through this time. I wrote him two days ago, but it was returned as non-deliverable. So I asked Jennifer to confirm his address and wrote him a third time. Well, third time must definitely be the charm, because it hasn't come back to me yet.
  • And Monica, or Foursheep as some of you know her as, sent me a couple of radical books on writing and life. I can't wait to delve into them once I finish Shades of Familiar by Caroline Burnes. One is called bird by bird by Anne Lamott, a book about life and writing. Monica says it's a delightful mix of life experiences and tips for better writing. The other, keeping a journal you love by Sheila Bender, gives tips, examples and writing prompts for a better journaling experience. I think this is the one I'll dig into first. And they're mine to keep, better still! I know they'll help further my writing skills and deepen my well of creativity even more.
  • Already I feel I've grown a bit as a person and writer, thanks to SFC. I've met some amazing, creative people there who are nothing but supportive and encouraging. And it's so interesting to see such diverse creativity! My own creativity, I feel, has benefited from contact with these women and men. I feel I belong in that community and I have new confidence in my writing, thanks mostly to Gwen. I even submitted my poems to them--and you know how I feel about my poetry producing skills. =0o Yyyeeahhh.
  • I think I'll stop here, for the other thoughts are big enough to have their own entries. But tomorrow, I promise you'll get your surprise. Night, night.
