Angels: Heavenly Messengers, Guardians, Avengers (Part 2)

(continued from the previous entry)
The bomb went off; engulfing the immediate area in flames. Not one child was died; one teacher was hospitalized with a bullet wound in his chest. Later, in relating their horrifying afternoon, several children said they heard voices telling them to get their younger brothers or sisters to the open windows. Others say they actually saw heavenly beings come through the ceiling and tell them to head to the window.

In listening to the childrens descriptions of these beings, parents brought out family albums. The spiritual guardians were family members who had passed away the year or two before.

From the interviews with hostages on Unsolved Mysteries, I gathered their protectors looked just as they did before before their death--without physical

impediments. They also had no wings or halo. This suggests an image totally at odds with the worlds. The interviews are one answer to my last question of what angels look like.

Another possibility is found in a new series on television which airs sporadically. It is a special, a documentary if you will, titled Angels Among Us. It addresses the presence of these celestial beings and how they help their mortal charges. I caught the tail end of the most recent episode which aired in January of last year. A woman was telling about an experience she had twenty years ago.

It was Thanksgiving. She was on her own with two small children to care for and living in a small two-bedroom apartment. (I dont remember if her husband was dead or if hed left her.) She was on welfare at that time and couldnt find a steady job. The young mother had promised her children a traditional Thanksgiving feast but was unable to save enough money.

She took the kids to the store to see what they could buy to eat. They found several salads at the deli. As the family climbed the stairs to their home, it was stopped by a petite elderly woman.

Please forgive me, she said. I saw you going to the store. I have made more than enough for me. I thought, perhaps, you and your little ones would enjoy a special treat.

The young woman hesitated. She didnt know the other woman. Should she take the charity? Please, the kind stranger entreated, holding out her hand palm up. I am alone as well. It would be nice to have some female company. Im to the left, in 17A.

Persuaded, the mother and children followed their unknown benefactor to her apartment where a mouthwatering meal awaited them. There was turkey, homemade bread, dressing, cranberries, mash potatoes and gravy.

The mother went back the next morning to return a bowl and to express her gratitude. Nobody was home; white sheets were draped over the furniture to keep dust off. The manager saw her knocking and asked what she was doing. When the woman responded, the manager said the family who lived there had been in Europe for three months.

The angel who helped this woman was elderly. This takes my last question further to: Can angels look as young or old as they need to to accomplish an assignment? One possible answer was found in a novel I read awhile ago. On the other side they are in their prime. Yet, if they appear to a loved one, they appear as the relative remembered them before death. The book, Angels Dont Knock was written for fun and is only the opinion of author Dan Yates. Still, it bears thinking about.

My quest continues. I only find more possibilities, more theories that seem in accordance with my opinion of these heavenly beings. They may be assistants, they may be progressing toward perfection as we are and can look any age that is needed for an assignment. We may not know precisely any of the answers...until we become angels ourselves.
