We ended up staying here last minute, instead of going to Utah.
2) It was Jon's last Thanksgiving with us until he returns home from his mission. He turns 19 in May, so it won't be long before he turns his mission papers in.
3) Kami just plain wanted to stay here. She was on the road last year or at a basketball game with her teammates from CEU. Kami is really funny about traditions and holidays and what she wants. She always has to be on-the-go or somewhere other than here--home. (Unless she's sleeping.) But yet when it comes to the holidays, Kami is a homebody. She refuses to leave the nest and throws a fit if we plan to be elsewhere for the holidays. As she put it, "This is our home, our family. This is where the memories are." Because Nan and Paw Paw have up until now been so far away, we've never been able to do much holidaying with them. So therefore, in Kami's mind, they're not part of our lil group, our traditions. Which is ridiculous. They're family, and had they been closer while we were growing up you bet your boopie they'd have been part of our flippin' holidays! Yes, she made me utterly, utterly furious. She knew it too, and she knew she was being a brat, but she didn't care.
But it was on Friday that I received an extra nice surprise. An old school friend and neighbor whose family moved to Florida when we were both in jr. high/high school stopped by for a visit. It was fun to catch up with Jodi and remember old times. She's a hoot, and she also is living in Utah now, right where Jessy and Nathaniel were married. She's gonna try and "set me up" online with a guy she knows in Florida. He's 28 and in a wheelchair like me. So I may have a new pen pal/friend soon. It'll be exciting to see.
