"I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
1) How do you cook your turkey (stuffing, spices, cooking bag, etcetera)?
We make it with stuffing, or "dressin'" as Nan and Paw Paw call it. But what really makes the turkey so yummy is the cranberry relish we serve with it. Mmmm-hmmm, good!
2) What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?
There can be only one answer to this: pumpkin pie!!! Mmmm-hmm. *licks lips* Though, part of the reasons I love the holidays so much is because we get an excuse to make all kinds of candy. Fudge, Boston Creme, Holly Berries (rice crispy treats colored green and decorated with Red Hot candies) and No Bake cookies.
3) What are you doing this year for Thanksgiving?
We are going down to Utah to spend the day with Nan and Paw Paw. They just moved from Texas, and this is our first chance ever to spend Thankgiving with each other. She wants us to see their townhouse with furniture in it, lol, and she is just so excited to have us there with them for the holiday--though we will be at my aunt and uncle's as their house is bigger.
4) Do you have any family traditions at Thanksgiving?
Um not really, though for the last two or three years after we've prayed we've held hands around the table each has said one thing we're grateful for.
5) What one dish does it just not feel like Thanksgiving without besides turkey?
Candied yams. Ya gotta have those or it ain't complete. Dressing comes next. Without these three it just ain't Thanksgiving. Come to think of it, it ain't Thanksgiving without true gratitude and humility.
