There's nothing that makes you feel both like a kid again and old at the same time as participating in childhood holiday traditions or eating cereals you ate as a kiddie. Right now the fam is watching
Here Comes Peter Cottontail, you know, the Claymation or puppet version. My brothers and sisters and I would watch the Easter specials the local channels aired every year until they quit them.
Watching this takes me back to yesteryear, giving me a young feeling and reviving fond memories of crowding 'round the tv, watching the "Family Circus" learn about Easter all the while trying to catch the Easter Bunny. Those were fun, simpler times.
Although...in spite of me being swamped with homework...I noticed this weekend that our traditions only involve eggs and the cute cuddly animals of Spring. *frowns* Unlike at Christmas, the other Christ-centered holiday, we don't have a tradition that reminds us of the true reason we celebrate Easter. I agree with Heather; it's not right that this holiday gets less attention and is stressed less than Christmas. I have decided that if I ever have me own family I'm going to start a tradition at Easter that reminds us of why we REALLY celebrate it.

I had Lucky Charms for the first time in a llloonngg time this weekend. As I was eating it I noticed the marhsymallows. I noticed they kept one or two(?) original marshmallows and all the rest are new or have been added over time. As I stared at the pile of cereal and marshmallows on my spoon, the thought hit me,
I remember when every
single marshmallow was introduced just about. Gosh, I'm old. I remembered how the horseshoes were introduced, the red balloons, the pots of gold, the shooting stars and the keys. I also noticed they changed the original ones too. There used to be green clovers, pink hearts, orange stars(?), blue diamonds(?) and yellow moons(?). (If I'm wrong, correct me ok?) Now, out of the original there're pink hearts only. They
now have green
hats with clovers on them and the moons are blue. And the stars are now falling stars with tails.
Who knew eating a kid cereal would make you feel old.
