A Poor Jealous Feline
09-09-2002 E 2:27 p.m.
I updated yesterday, I promise. Unfortunately, it was during the 25 minute downtime of the Members' Area. So it did not get saved. Therefore this is yesterday's entry. Again.

Egypt is miffed at me, I think. He one of those cats, while knowing in typical cat fashion he is superior, with a distinct and loveable personality. I have regaled you before with his antics and his explorations which usually made me worry. But the story which I'm about to share delves into his psyche a bit more.

He's jealous.

Last week Jon had two friends sleep over. The morning after Aubree let the cats in to roam the house. The boys were playing with Egypt and the lil one, teasing them on their looks while petting them. I decided to call Ege to see if he would obey and come hopping onto my bed so I could pet him. Sure enough at my call his head turned and he came a-runnin'. Jumping up on my quilt he sauntered up to receive affection. A few minutes later Aubree came in, depositing the lil one on my bed as well. She watched us few a sec and decided, I wanna be petted too, that looks good. So Lady G waddled close and I reached over and touched her soft fur. After the second time I stopped petting him to stroke the girl, Egypt stared at the kitten then launched off the bed and marched to the door where he tried like mad to push my sliding door open.

A couple days later I was enjoying the sunshine out on the deck with Egypt who was lounging on my lap. *mrrooww* I looked up at the baby meow to see the lil one waddle up the ramp. We hadn't seen her for almost a day and a , so it was a relief to see her gray lil body. I started talking softly to her while petting Egypt. But I guess Ege took exception to that because he sprang off my lap, disappearing off the opposite end of the deck. He doesn't mind her company; he can be fairly gentle with her, but when it comes to me or I guess having others' attention, he doesn't like sharing. His whiskers get all tied in a twist.

I guess last night I went unwittingly too far. Both cats were in my room and I had Ege on my lap. He was enjoying the affection and showing a bit of his own. Again Lady Gray decided she wanted some of the lovin' and so stepped onto my knee. Once I reached over Egee to pet her he decided that was too much to bear. He jumped off and slunk under my bed. *sigh*

And today, the ninth, he hasn't wanted me to pet him.
