CEREBRAL PALSY
01-25-2006 E 3:23 p.m.
Feeling-- lazy
Reading-- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
Listening to-- nothingEmma once did a poem like this--which is where I got the idea from. The poem may spell out "Cerebral Palsy" which is my medical diagnosis/condition, but as you see, the letters form a very real, human personality. Me. I am not some entity identified solely by this physical limitation. I am not some poor creature to be pitied and coddled. I am not an alien from the planet Trovell, to be stared at or shunned or studied as an experiment in a science lab. I'm an Earthling, a human just like anybody else, yet uniquely me.

Emma is striving to be an advocate for people with C.P. (specifically) and for people with physical disabilities in general--I think. One of her goals is to help the able-bodied to see and realize there is nothing to be frightened of, that we do not need to be feared, shunned or pitied. We lead lives just like anybody else, and just like anybody else, we have our own problems, weaknesses and strengths, likes and dislikes. And that is the poem's purpose.
